In order for racism and ignorance to go away, schools needs to change their curriculums to teach the history of BIPOC in America and how that history is embedded into today's society. In addition to that, handbooks need to change to have a zero tolerance for racist memorabilia and racial slurs. Lack of these things has allowed students to get away with blatant racism towards others.
Supporting and listening to your friends who are BIPOC as an ally is very important. Standing up for the people who don't yet have their voices is necessary for problems to be addressed. Finally, the hard discussions about race relations and dark history need to be held.
